Flinders House isn’t just a residence; it’s a celebration of family, friendship, and the beauty of beachside living. The design embraces a series of intimate and sheltered courtyards, seamlessly connecting two beach houses for multigenerational living. These spaces are carefully planned to encourage gathering, relaxation, and the enjoyment of living by the ocean.
Zoned Comfort and Privacy
The zoning intricacies have been crafted to define spaces that resonate with purpose. The bedroom wings are strategically placed around a shared courtyard, offering separate spaces for children’s bunkrooms, guest suites, and master suites. Privacy is maintained through sliding timber screens and lush vegetation, creating an oasis where each resident can find their own peaceful corner.
Solar-Optimized Awning Design
Our metal slatted awnings are a testament to thoughtful design. Carefully angled blades optimize solar protection and gain. In the winter, the majority of the sun’s warmth is invited into the house. Come summer, these blades skillfully eliminate excess heat gain, ensuring comfort in the main living spaces.
South-Facing Highlights
For the areas facing south, highlight windows that capture soft, indirect light have been introduced into the design. These windows delicately guide views upwards, inviting the beauty of the tree canopy and the vast sky into the living spaces.
Inspired by Nature
Carefully considered by landscape architect, Andy Murray, these pathways weave around the site with a purpose—to harmonize the series of courtyards and open spaces that bind the two dwellings together.
These include the location, block conditions, access and local council restrictions. Our team are happy to discuss how we can work with you to create an architecturally designed home.
