What are the steps involved with converting to modular?

Our journey begins with a transport site inspection to confirm access requirements and maximum module sizes. This will involve an initial desktop review, followed by an in person inspection by a member of our transport team.

Once we have reviewed the suitability for access and determined your module sizes our team will undertake a detailed analysis of the existing architectural design.

We carefully assess the layout, structural elements, and overall feasibility for modular adaptation. This initial phase allows us to identify areas that can be optimized for modular construction without compromising the essence of the design.

With a keen understanding of the original design, our team of experienced designers and architects will start the process of modularising your design to suit our prefabricated construction methods. From here, we follow the Prebuilt process to design and construct your modular home.

What are the benefits of converting traditional architectural designs to modular designs?

Prebuilt clients are enjoying the benefits of moving to a modular construction as it provides the opportunity to maintain their existing architectural design intent, whilst enjoying a faster documentation and construction process.

A traditional build can take anywhere from 12 – 18 months, and is often subject to construction overrun of 25 – 50% due to frequent redesign, according to McKinsey reports.

A modular build, however, is typically completed within 12 – 14 weeks in the factory, and finished onsite in 2 -4 weeks. Whilst onsite works are underway, construction is taking place in a controlled facility, like Prebuilt’s HQ in Kilsyth, Victoria.
