Prefabricated homes – sustainable from design to construction

A better design

Prebuilt encourages a common sustainable design ethos as the concept design is developed. Some of the sustainability considerations we consider at this stage include passive solar orientation, natural ventilation and external shading.

Prebuilt shares a common sustainable design ethos with Pleysier Perkins. This sees the design come to life using building materials that consider sustainable manufacturing and product origin. Designs can be master-planned with off-grid capability to include water tanks, solar energy, and battery storage.

A smarter process.

The Prebuilt prefabricated process delivers a raft of sustainable advantages over conventional building. After initial concept design, every build is meticulously drawn and specified, eliminating decisions made on-site and therefore enabling a streamlined process. Our team of specialists work simultaneously on one project, reducing waste.

Considered resources.

When the resources and embodied energy that go into producing masonry are considered (including raw materials such as the depleting worldwide sand supplies for concrete production) and compare this to the use of lightweight products for construction (such as reconstituted or recycled timber sourced from plantation forests, Colorbond or a steel pile foundation system) the sustainable benefits and minimal impact on the land are obvious.

Saving energy.

A streamlined and uniform manufacturing process continues during the construction phase in a quality-controlled factory environment unimpeded by the elements.

Savings in energy and resources are offered through a factory powered by a 97-kW solar panel system, with over 35% of the power generated feeding back into the grid. Ordering materials in bulk and recycling or reusing materials also offer sustainable benefits by reducing both waste to landfill and transport.

All-round benefits.

Prebuilt’s model allows for the benefits of economies of scale within manufacturing – as output increases, costs decrease. This opens opportunities that would enable for re-investing into continued innovation towards systems, processes, technology and materials.

With time allocation towards these areas rather than onsite project management, Prebuilt ultimately enables a higher quality product to be enjoyed by our clients for longer.
